Chuck Berry planning comeback

Rock and blues pioneer Chuck Berry is planning to release his first studio album since 1979 - as soon as he finds a suitable business partner.

The Johnny B. Goode icon and guitar great has six previously unheard songs he wants to share with fans, some written 16 years ago, but he needs a music manager in the know to help him navigate today's industry.

The 86 year old says, "As soon as I can get someone to guide me - and I do know a little about the business - I want to push them out. I'm going to come back and push them out if you know what I mean, somehow."

However, he refuses to shed light on what the tracks he's holding on to sound like, only stating, "They might be old, but they are the same type of music that I have been playing."

Berry revealed the news at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum on Saturday, when he was honoured for his career achievements with the American Music Masters Award and a tribute concert featuring artists such as Ernie Isley, Run-D.M.C.'s Darryl McDaniels and Merle Haggard.

The legendary star's last studio release was Rock It, which came out in 1979.
