Watch these five artists explode in 2013.
Yes, it's an all female list. And yes, they are all deserve being on it. Just ask yourself if it was an all-male list, would anyone question it?

1. Lianne La Havas: The first Brit on the list and clearly the tastemakers choice. The 23-year-old-singer-songwriter-guitarist was chosen to open for Bon Iver on his 2011 North American tour in December after he saw her perform on Later ... with Jools Holland on British television. She backed that up with a beautiful sounding 2012 debut album, Is Your Love Big Enough?, that combined jazz-soul-folk-pop and was nominated for England's Mercury Prize. Subsequently. Prince invited her to his Paisley Park studio in Minneapolis and Steven Wonder showed up at her theatre show in L.A. where he talked to her for an hour afterwards. Robert Plant and Erykah Badu have also come calling with opening slot offers.
