Did White drop Grammy F-bomb?

TV bosses have hit back at reports suggesting Jack White swore during the live Grammy Awards telecast on Sunday.

The rocker sparked a Twitter.com frenzy amongst viewers after apparently singing the phrase "f**k me" during his performance of Love Interruption with Ruby Amanfu at Los Angeles' Staples Center.

The lyrics to the track do not include any expletives, but chiefs at U.S. network CBS, which aired the prizegiving, argue White actually said "fight me".

Martin Franks, an executive at CBS, insists a team of censors monitoring the show on a 10-second delay agreed White was in the clear.

Franks tells The Hollywood Reporter, "We had 10 editors, and three people on site, and all are experienced, all with multiple Grammy, multiple Big Brother, multiple Tony experience, experience with doing these delays.

"They went through all of the rehearsals. They have prepared meticulously. And not a single one of them heard anything other than 'fight.'"
