DR. Dre is suing bosses at electronics giant Yamaha over allegations they copied his hugely successful headphone line.
Lawyers for the rap icon filed suit in California last week claiming that Yamaha PRO headphones infringes the patent of his Beats by Dre range.
In the lawsuit, Dre's legal eagles state that the Yamaha range copies "the distinctive aspects of the Beats' Headphones that comprise Beats' Trade Dress Rights."
The lawyers add, "Consumers appreciated the design, as well as the sound quality, of Beats and began wearing the Beats headphones around their necks as a fashion accessory even when not listening to music. In fact, the design of the Beats headphones has been a significant driver of the commercial success of the products."
Dr. Dre is suing for at least $75,000 in damages.
