KIDMAN

Grammy crasher on how he got in

Celebrity prankster Vitalii Sediuk runs on stage to greet singer Adele as she wins a Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance for her song "Set Fire To The Rain", at the 55th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California, in this February 10, 2013 photo. REUTERS/Mike Blake

A prankster who sneaked into the Grammy Awards and gatecrashed Adele's big moment on stage has revealed how he infiltrated the ceremony and insisted he never meant to upset the British singer.

Vitalii Sediuk was arrested and charged with trespassing after he walked onto the stage as the Rolling In The Deep star was accepting her Best Pop Solo Performance prize.

He has now revealed he was able to get into the Los Angeles ceremony without a ticket by going with a group of friends, and then following pop star Katy Perry into the Staples Center auditorium before taking a seat in the second row reserved for Maroon Five's Adam Levine.

The Ukrainian reporter has now revealed Levine, who arrived late, had to sit on the floor because his seat had been taken, telling The Hollywood Reporter, "I think it belonged to Adam Levine because he was sitting on the ground."

He goes on to admit his prank wasn't planned and he feels bad for upstaging Adele: "I went with friends who had tickets. They didn't check how many we had, so I was let in. First I went to the media line and interviewed quite a few celebrities... Then I just followed one girl in a green dress through the gates. They checked my pockets but never asked to see a ticket. Only once I was inside the building did I realize, 'Oh my gosh, it's Katy Perry!'...

"The idea to go on the stage came up at the last second. To be honest, Adele is my favourite singer. So when I heard her name, I came up with this idea to go up on the stage and... I pretended this was an award for me, and then I said, 'Thank you, Adele. You're my inspiration'... My purpose is to entertain and to show a different emotion of celebrities. I'm not a crazy guy. I just think differently."

Sediuk is due in court on trespassing charges next month.
