Stern backs Clarkson over feud

Shock DJ Howard Stern has stepped into the war of words between music mogul Clive Davis and his former protegee Kelly Clarkson after the release of the his tell-all memoirs this week.

A new feud erupted between Davis and Clarkson after the music executive claimed in his book, The Soundtrack of My Life, that the former American Idol winner had burst into "hysterical sobbing" when he insisted her hit Since U Been Gone should be on her second album Breakaway.

Clarkson hit back on her blog, writing, "So I just heard Clive Davis is releasing a memoir and spreading false information about me and my music. I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapses and misinformation for myself and for my fans. It feels like a violation. Growing up is awesome because you learn you don't have to cower to anyone - even Clive Davis."

Now Stern has given his opinion of the argument, admitting he finds it "sickening" when record industry chiefs try and take credit for the work of their artists.

He says, "I always find it sickening when management guys like to set the record straight about how f**king creative and what geniuses they are. And like this guy's trying to diminish what she does? Doesn't he have enough in life? Can't he sort of tell his story without f**king degrading her and putting her down?

"I think she has an amazing voice, and the girl has worked hard to get to where she is. I don't understand Clive Davis' motivation for knocking this chick down."
