Goodbye 2013, it was nice knowing you.

Whether you're going out or staying home (and saving money at the same time), here's ten New Year's Eve themed tunes that you should have ringing in your ear as you usher in 2014.

3, 2, 1...here we go:

Prince - 1999

What's a party without His Royal Badness? This tune from Prince Rogers Nelson will get the masses on the dance floor or have you twerking in your living room.

U2 - New Year's Day (USA remix)

While we're admittedly not the biggest fan of tinkering and fooling around with classic tracks, this one is actually an improvement on the song, which comes from the Irish band's powerful 1983 War album.

Death Cab for Cutie - The New Year

"So this is the new year and I don't feel any different," bellows DCFC lead singer Ben Gibbard. Geez Ben, don't be such a party pooper. This little lead-off gem from the group's 2003 effort Transatlanticism may be a cynical look at the turning of the calendar, but it's one of their best. If you’re lost and lonely, you’ll feel right at home.

Jimi Hendrix - Auld Lang Syne (Live at Fillmore East)

The guitar god got into the spirit of NYE by doing a killer version of the old Scottish song with the Band of Gypsies at the Fillmore East on New Year's Eve 1969, heading into 1970.

Foo Fighters - Next Year

Rock 'n' roll nice guy Dave Grohl takes a positive spin on the turning of the clock with this track from their third album, There Is Nothing Left to Lose.

Counting Crows - A Long December

It could be one of the most depressing songs of all time, but hey, if you're feeling in the dumps, this might be the one to listen to. Sorry, a tissue box is not included.

Otis Redding - New Year's Resolution

Who better to help usher in your new year than one of the greatest vocalists of all time? This fantastic ditty, featuring Carla Thomas, is the perfect soul song for your NYE soundtrack.

Mariah Carey - Auld Lang Syne (The New Year’s Anthem)

Mariah shakes it up by going old school for the first portion of the track, but then brings out the dancin' shoes for the remainder.

Eagles - Funky New Year

The Eagles recorded this catchy holiday track during the sessions for their 1979 album, The Long Run. The festive tune didn't brighten their spirits, apparently - they broke up shortly afterwards.

Snoop Dogg (feat. Marty James) - New Year's Eve

Even Snoop gets into the midnight action as he blazes up this 2010 party track from the Doggumentary sessions. Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em.
