Hip-hop icon Dr Dre has lost his $3 million US lawsuit against Death Row Records.

The producer filed legal papers against the record label in December claiming he was owed $676,400 for unpaid mechanical royalties, $1.2 million in unpaid artist/producer royalties, and $1.2 million in digital sales of his music.

The California Love hitmaker claimed in the lawsuit that the record label continued to sell his work while bankrupt without paying him royalties, but editors at TMZ.com report a judge has now dismissed his claim.

Death Row Records declared bankruptcy in 2006 and was bought by WIDEawake Entertainment Group in 2009 for $18 million.
