Drake and Hedley lead the pack of nominations at the MMVAs with six each, while hip hop artist SonReal nabbed five nods, Montreal indie darlings Arcade Fire and alternative R&B star The Weeknd garnered four each.
The Sam Roberts Band and Thugli were next on the list with three, and July Talk, whose lead singer Leah Faye is the daughter of Toronto Sun/Sun Media columnist Lorrie Goldstein, got their first ever nomination.
For those on the Justin Bieber watch, he scored two nominations -- for International Video of the Year by a Canadian, and Your Fave Artist/Group.
The annual ceremony, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, goes live on June 15 at 9 p.m. ET on Much, CTV and CTV Go (with a red carpet special beginning an hour before), and is being co-hosted by reality TV stars Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
