Axl Rose has moved to silence speculation over the future of Guns N' Roses by hinting they will begin recording a new album this year.

The frontman hit headlines last month when rumours of an impending split emerged, suggesting the singer planned to go solo after completing the band's summer residency in Las Vegas.

However, Rose has now spoken out about his plans for the band's future, explaining he is eyeing studio time to work on a follow-up to 2008's Chinese Democracy.

Rose tells Revolver magazine, "We recorded a lot of things before Chinese (Democracy) was out. We've worked more on some of those things and we've written a few new things. But basically, we have what I call kind of the second half of Chinese. That's already recorded... But after Vegas, we're going to start looking very seriously at what we're doing in that regard."
