Juno Awards 2005
Various Artists
(Warner)

The Junos are less than a month away. Can you feel the excitement building? Nah, us neither.

But hey, there's still plenty of time. And the new Juno Awards 2005 compilation CD might help. It can't hurt.

This 18-track set collects a cross-section of nominees from major categories. You get superstars (Avril's Don't Tell Me, Shania's Party for Two), rockers (Nickelback's Figured You Out, Tragically Hip's Vaccination Scar), singer-songwriters (Ron Sexsmith's Whatever it Takes, Sarah McLachlan's Push), hip-hop (k-os's Crabbuckit, jacksoul's Still Believe in Love), pop-punk (Sum 41's Pieces, Billy Talent's The Ex), jazz (Diana Krall's Narrow Daylight) and even Francophone pop (Audrey de Montigny's Meme les Anges).

Pity you don't get any nominees from our host city -- but even so, Juno Awards 2005 is a decent guide to this year's lineup.

1. Avril Lavigne - Don't Tell Me
2. Shania Twain with Mark McGrath - Party For Two
