An album of unreleased tracks by the late rising R&B star Aaliyah is being planned, Variety reports.
Blackground Records, the management firm and label that guided Aaliyah's career prior to her death in an August plane crash in the Bahamas, has signed a new distribution deal with Universal Records.
The deal comes after a parting of ways with the company's prior label home, Virgin Records. It covers an Aaliyah best-of package and an album of new material from the late singer.
Blackground has "several dozen" unheard cuts featuring the singer, whose latest eponymous disc has sold 1.6 million copies, the report said.
Variety reported that the Blackground/Universal deal will also cover an upcoming release from R&B singer Tank, whose Timbaland & Magoo-produced album "Indecent Proposal" recently entered the U.S. charts at #29.
