HOLLYWOOD -- Pop singer Aaliyah died in a plane crash before she could complete dubbing duties on the vampire thriller Queen of the Damned.
Aaliyah's younger brother Rashad Haughton helped enhance her dialogue.
"Initially it was difficult for me to watch those scenes. I was real sad because Aaliyah wasn't able to see the fruits of her labour. This role in Queen of the Damned was very important to her and she worked very hard to get it," says Rashad.
"The more I watched and worked on those scenes, the more I realized this was her happiest moment because she was performing and doing what she loved and I tried to embrace that emotion more. The only way I can cope with the pain of her loss is to try and realize Queen of the Damned is one of the gifts she left all of us."
At his sister's request, Rashad had visited the set of Queen quite often.
"Aaliyah helped break a lot of the tension on the film. Most of her scenes were pretty gruesome with all that blood and stuff.
"As soon as (director) Michael Rymer would say cut, she'd revert to being Aaliyah and play a joke to bring everybody back to reality. She'd be covered in blood and she'd chase one of the crew members trying to bite them. It was pretty hilarious.
"My sister was always such a jokester. She had the greatest sense of humour. Laughter is something I'll always associate with her."
