Actress/singer Nona Gaye has joined the cast of the upcoming "Matrix" sequels, taking on a part that was originally intended for the late Aaliyah.
The Hollywood Reporter said Gaye ("Ali") is already in Australia working on the films "The Matrix: Reloaded" and "The Matrix: Revolutions," with directors Andy and Larry Wachowski.
Aaliyah died in a plane crash last August, after she had signed on to star as Zee in "The Matrix" sequels, which are filming simultaneously. Gaye is the daughter of Motown legend Marvin Gaye and recorded her debut album, "Love Is The Future," in 1992.
