AC/DC coming back to Canada

They're back. Yes, they're back.

Australian rock legends AC/DC are returning to Canada this summer for a six-pack of stadium shows on their massive Black Ice tour, with more dates pending, it was announced yesterday.

The tour kicks off Aug. 6 in at Moncton's Magnetic Hill Music Festival and makes its way to Vancouver on Aug. 23, with stops in Montreal, Winnipeg, Regina and Edmonton along the way (see full schedule below). It will be the group's first appearance in Regina.

Tickets for all shows go on sale Sat., April 18 at Ticketmaster.com, with the exception of the Moncton gig, which goes on sale April 17. Prices are generally hovering around the $100 range, with cheaper nosebleed seats in some venues and more expensive VIP options in others. Check Ticketmaster in your area for more information.

The band -- singer Brian Johnson, guitarists Angus and Malcolm Young, bassist Cliff Williams and drummer Phil Rudd -- are still touring behind their mega-hit comeback album Black Ice, which has sold 6.5 million copies globally since being released last fall. It was also the best-selling album in Canada last year, despite -- or perhaps because of -- the band's refusal to license their music for digital sales. In any case, if you want tickets, be fast -- these shows are almost guaranteed to sell out in minutes.

Along with the AC/DC dates, word is that Aerosmith and ZZ Top will be teaming up for a Western Canada swing in August. So if you're a classic rock fan from the Prairies, you'll get everything from A to Z this summer. Stay tuned for details on that one. In the meantime, here are the AC/DC tour dates, for those about to rock:

Aug. 6: Moncton / Magnetic Hill Music Festival

Aug. 8: Montreal / Olympic Stadium

Aug. 22: Winnipeg / Canad Inns Stadium

Aug. 24: Regina / Mosaic Stadium at Taylor Field

Aug. 26: Edmonton / Commonwealth Stadium

Aug. 29: Vancouver, BC / BC Place
