AFI

California punk rockers AFI (A Fire Inside) made a hot debut on the Canadian album charts this week.

The band's seventh studio disc "Decemberunderground," buoyed by the hit single "Miss Murder," checked in at No. 2 with sales of over 14,000, according to figures compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.

It's their first new material since 2003's "Sing the Sorrow," which marked the band's major label debut.

AFI had an even better showing south of the border, where they snagged the No. 1 spot, selling 182,000 copies of "Decemberunderground" in the U.S.

Closer to the top, the Dixie Chicks' "Taking the Long Way" (21,000) was locked in at No. 1 for a third straight week, and Shakira's "Oral Fixation Vol. 2" (11,000) spent its 26th week at No. 3.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Stadium Arcadium" dropped from No. 2 to No. 4, James Blunt's "Back to Bedlam" slipped one notch to No. 5, while Rihanna's "Girl Like Me" came up one level to No. 6.

Michael Buble's "It's Time" rebounded three positions to No. 7 and Gnarls Barkley's "St. Elsewhere," helped by the catchy single "Crazy," climbed one to No. 8.

Veteran rapper Ice Cube had the second biggest entry of the week at No. 9 with "Laugh Now, Cry Later," and Tool's "10,000 Days" sank two to No. 10.

Other notable debuts included MC Mario's "Mixdown 2006" at No. 22, the 2006 Warped Tour compilation at No. 42, and the soccer collection "Voices From the World Cup" at No. 44.

In the U.S., the Dixie Chicks placed second (175,000), followed by Bad Boy South's "Yung Joc" in third, Ice Cube in fourth, and Disney's "High School Musical" in fifth.
