Songstress Christina Aguilera has put her "Dirrty" days behind her, and is now back to No. 1 on the Canadian album charts.
Her third disc, "Back to Basics," which is more soul and jazz-influenced than its predecessors, debuted in the top spot this week with sales of just under 24,000 copies, according to data compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.
The album topped the first-week sales of her last studio disc "Stripped," which checked in at No. 3 with 14,000 in sales back in November of 2002.
It also beat the figures of her self-titled first effort, which reached No. 1 with 19,000 copies sold in September of 1999.
Aguilera also grabbed the No. 1 spot south of the border, selling 320,000 copies of "Basics" in the U.S. -->
Back in Canada, after spending three straight weeks at No. 1, Crazy Frog's "More Crazy Hits" (10,000) was relegated to the No. 2 position, Nelly Furtado's "Loose" (8,000) slipped to No. 3, and rapper Obie Trice's "Second Round's On Me" premiered at No. 4.
The Dixie Chicks' "Taking the Long Way" fell one to No. 5, James Blunt's "Back To Bedlam" remained at No. 6, and the soundtrack to the dance film "Step Up" made one of the biggest moves of the week, climbing 13 spots to No. 7.
Rounding out the top ten was Billy Talent's "Billy Talent II" at No. 8, Rihanna's "Girl Like Me" at No. 9, and Crazy Frog's "Crazy Hits" at No. 10.
Other notable debuts included Unearth's "III: In the Eyes of Fire" at No. 49, Trace Adkins' "Dangerous Man" at No. 55, and Panic Channel's "ONe" at No. 58.
In the U.S., Lyfe Jennings' "The Phoenix" debuted at No. 2, followed by Trace Adkins in third, Cherish's "Underappreciated" in fourth, and the soundtrack to "The Cheetah Girls 2" in fifth.
