MY KIND OF CHRISTMAS
By JANE STEVENSON

MY KIND OF CHRISTMAS
Christina Aguilera
(RCA-BMG)

The blonde pixie with the big voice tackles both dance songs and more traditional fare, making for mixed results on her first Christmas album. Christmas Time, This Year and Xtina's Xmas pack enough up-tempo R&B wallop to make Aguilera's propensity to over-sing tolerable. As for the standards, she just can't leave well enough alone on such songs as Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, Oh Holy Night, etc., jumping around octaves from verse to verse. Conspicuously missing in action is blues queen Etta James, who was supposed to duet with Aguilera on Merry Christmas, Baby.
