Autopsy reports have confirmed that Alice In Chains singer Layne Staley died from a drug overdose.
E-Online reports that Staley died from a fatal mix of cocaine and heroin, better known as speedball or "Belushi" (named after John Belushi who died of the concoction in 1982).
According to King County Medical Examiner's Office, Staley died on April 5, two weeks prior to the discovery of his body in his Seattle apartment.
Staley had been in a long battle with substance abuse and eventually withdrew from public life amid rumours of an increased drug addiction, reports E-Online.
"For the past decade, Layne struggled greatly -- we can only hope that he has at last found some peace," surviving bandmates said in a statement after Staley's body was found.
Over the last 10 years, the fatal mix of drugs has also contributed to the deaths of actor River Phoenix (1993), Kurt Cobain (1994), Blind Melon's Shannon Hoon (1995), and Sublime's Bradley Nowell (1996).
