Another rock band has cancelled a public appearance in Toronto over fear of SARS - which wouldn't be news if it wasn't a rock band named for another infectious disease.

New York thrash-metal band Anthrax was advised by its Canadian record label to postpone a May 12 in-store appearance, which would've involved signing autographs and shaking hands with a lot of Toronto Anthrax fans. The band will still be in Toronto that day for other promotional work.

The threat of biological warfare has everyone on edge -- including the band Anthrax.

At the group's official website (anthrax.com), the metal band posted a message titled "Anthrax (the band) Vs. Anthrax (the disease)", expressing their concern over the group's namesake virus, which is suddenly making headlines due to a Florida outbreak of the deadly disease.
