Arcade Fire plot new album

Montreal buzz band The Arcade Fire are set to enter the studio to begin work on their second album, NME reports.

The group, who are on tour in support of their critically-acclaimed debut effort "Funeral," said they are looking forward to the challenge.

"We want to start making a new record. We've got a lot of writing to do too," bassist Tim Kingsbury told NME.com. "We've been touring these songs for a couple of years so we're ready to move on."

Organist Richard Parry said he is not sure how the new album will sound but hopes it will still sound distinctly Arcade Fire.

"It's the same group of people. It's gonna be The Arcade Fire," Parry said. "And we have our own studio space now so there's no time constraints. We spend as much time as we want and then see what happens."

The band hopes the album will be out within a year.

The Arcade Fire will open U2's shows at Ottawa's Corel Centre on Nov. 25, and Montreal's Bell Centre on Nov. 26 and Nov. 28.
