Jann jumps at chance for role in Monologues
By JOHN KENDLE

Jann Arden will fill the third seat in the Walker Theatre's upcoming production of The Vagina Monologues, the Walker Theatre Performing Arts Group confirmed yesterday.

The singer/songwriter/actress from Calagary will join touring Broadway actresses Starla Benford and Sherri Parker Lee in the Winnipeg production of Eve Ensler's award-winning theatre phenomenon, which runs April 10 to 15 at the Walker.

"There were several celebrities available, but Jann's name came up in every conversation we had," said Walker board president Sam Katz, who made the arrangements for Arden's participation.

"Once we approached her and found she was as excited about it as the board was about having her, it was just a matter of co-ordinating schedules, and the deal was done."

Based on interviews with a diverse group of women, The Vagina Monologues features three actresses delivering monologues on the subject of the vagina from various points of view.

The play is one of four the Walker is bringing to give Winnipeg. Off-Broadway hits Late Nite Catechism (May 8 - 13) and Father, Son & Holy Coach (June 5-10) will follow The Vagina Monologues.

The series kicks off later this month with Robert Dubac's The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron, a one-man standup comedy show in which Dubac plays five of his friends answering the question "What do women want?" It runs Feb. 27 to March 4.

Tickets for all four plays are available at all TicketMaster outlets by calling 780-3333 or online at ticketmaster.ca.
