Jann Arden's health scare
By TARA MERRIN -- Sun Media
Jann Arden is literally putting her heart on her sleeve. The Calgary singer, who was rushed to hospital last month after suffering chest pains, is opening up about being diagnosed with a rare stress-caused heart condition (Tako-Tsubo Cardiomyopathy), on her website. Arden, who is on a cross-country tour, admits she's now nervous about pushing herself too hard. "Two weeks ago, I didn't think I'd be going anywhere except the bathroom down the hallway from room 818. I am still a bit nervous to run hard, or be alone for that matter. Every day though, is a bit better," she writes. Arden says her doctor had no explanation about the cause of her heart problem, but suggested it could be linked to a recent trauma, not her lifestyle. "If I had had anything that I felt I couldn't handle or that had made me terribly sad, I cannot think of one thing," she writes. "I feel bad that ... I am estranged from both of my brothers. My older brother because of him being incarcerated, and my younger brother for reasons I doubt either of us are all that sure of. It's terribly sad." Arden, 45, says she's slowing down and making some needed life changes. "I suppose this second half of my life will be the one that reveals all the things I have been moving too fast to see," she writes. "I have been running, both literally and physically and I have missed the intricate details." |
