Bachman, Cummings ready to record again
By -- Toronto Sun

Given all of the renewed interest in the Randy Bachman-Burton Cummings collective catalogue, might Canada's most successful songwriting duo finally write a new studio album together?

"Everybody's asking about it -- I don't know," Burton Cummings told the Sun in Toronto this week while promoting the just-released Bachman Cummings Songbook.

"What we're talking about is doing an album of old covers. Maybe some Chuck Berry stuff that (Randy) loves. I've been waiting to re-record Love Potion No. 9 for years. I loved it by The Clovers, then The Searchers butchered it, and it's about time I did it the right way, you know?"

Added Bachman at his side: "Well, we won't do it for fun. Somebody needs to make us an offer. If somebody said there is a movie coming out starring Angelina Jolie and will you write a song for the closing, well of course we would write a song. Or some label coming saying, 'Will you do an album of new stuff?' That's what made us write in the first place."

SAY CHEESE: In case you're wondering about the rather iconic-looking '70s-era photos of Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings side-by-side on their new album cover, it's an amalgamation of two different photo shoots.

"Randy's is from a BTO album (1976's Head On) and mine is from '77 photo shoot in London, England, which ended up being on my Dream Of A Child album and also my Burton Cummings Collection on Rhino," explained Cummings. "Those photos are from the same era but they're from totally separate projects and they've meshed them together very nicely. It looks good."
