Fans will be treated to a sneak preview of Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman's upcoming album during Saturday's Celebrate a Century gala.
"It's not going to be original stuff," says Cummings of the project, a covers album called Jukebox due in April. "We each picked a bunch of the stuff we loved when we were little ... records we loved when we were coming up and stuff we had a real affinity for."
The final setlist includes Chuck Berry's Little Queenie, Bob Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone, Sam Cooke's Good Times, The Eagles' Baby Come Back and Edwin Starr's Agent Double-O Soul.
"We didn't want it to be so obscure that nobody knew what the hell we were doing," Cummings laughs. "They're very recognizable tunes, but we're not just following the same formula everyone's heard before."
The album comes on the heels of the duo's wildly successful Songbook tour, which included a show at MTS Centre in June.
Saturday's show will not be a repeat of last summer. Instead, it'll feature material from the new CD, along with a few surprises.
"I'm thinking it'll be a lot like the old Ed Sullivan show. More of an evening for the building than for any one performer."
