Barenaked Ladies get behind Music Without Borders show
By KIERAN GRANT
Barenaked Ladies are throwing their weight behind the Music Without Borders benefit concert at Air Canada Centre Oct. 21.

The Toronto pop exports will join a lineup that already includes Alanis Morissette, The Tragically Hip, Our Lady Peace and Bruce Cockburn.

The artists will raise funds for the United Nations Donor Alert Appeal to provide aid to refugees in and around Afghanistan. The appeal outlines a six-month plan to raise nearly US$600 million and provide inter-agency UN support for an estimated 7.5 million victims of drought, civil war and human rights abuse, and those caught in the crossfire of the current warfare in Afghanistan.

Tickets for the concert are $35 and go on sale tomorrow at noon through Ticketmaster (416-870-8000, ticketmaster.ca) and, after the first day of sales, at the Air Canada Centre box office. There's an eight ticket per person limit and advance random wristband policy in effect.

All proceeds from the tickets sales, including the Ticketmaster service charges, will go to the UN appeal.

Each band will play for approximately 40 minutes, with the show being aired live and commercial-free on MuchMusic between 9 p.m. and midnight. CBC Television will broadcast the show beginning at 10:30 p.m. EST.
