EDMONTON -- Yes, it's another good news, bad news day - Bega is off, Prozzak is on.
Let's get the bad news out of the way: The Lou Bega Mambo Dance Party that was to happen Feb. 7 in the Shaw Conference Centre has been cancelled.
The singer of Mambo No. 5 called off the tour due to conflicting schedules. Bega has decided to film a new video in Germany instead. A make-up date will hopefully be planned for some time in the coming months. Meanwhile, ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase. Call Ticketmaster at 451-8000.
And now the good news - if you're a teenager. The Prozzak show has been confirmed. The cartoon pop duo created by the Philosopher Kings' Jason Levine and James McCollum will perform live - through some unexplained miracle of interactive video - at the Shaw Conference Centre on Friday, Feb. 25. Opening the show will be McMaster & James, soulDecision and b4-4. It is a teen pop extravaganza.
Prozzak, as fans recall, earned huge success last year on the strength of such hits as Sucks to be You and Strange Disease. The virtual duo's debut, Hot Show, ended up selling nearly 300,000 copies in Canada - more than twice that of the latest P-Kings record. How ironic.
General admission tickets to this all-ages concert are $25 and go on sale this Friday at all Ticketmaster outlets (451-8000).
