THE CURSE OF BLONDIE
Blondie
(Sanctuary/EMI)
Oh sure, The Curse of Blondie sounds like it's just a cute title. But it's no joke. There really is a curse of Blondie.
If you want to experience it, just head to the mall, shell out for this 14-song disc -- their second comeback effort and followup to 1999's dismal No Exit -- and listen for yourself.
Trust us, when you realize there are only about four good songs in this set -- notably the infectious retro-disco hit Good Boys and the reasonably rocking Golden Rod and Last One in the World -- along with about 10 bland blobs of lethargic, synth-soaked pop balladry, clumsy white rap and torchy pseudo-jazz, you'll be swearing like a sailor.
And that, folks, is the real curse of Blondie.
