Ruth Brown figures the music industry has always eaten its own, whether it was Atlantic Records trying to take her last dime or the radio director who asked her to bring a few albums to a recent interview at a new blues station.
"He said he didn't know my stuff and was hoping I could bring some albums with me," says the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame inductee. "I said, 'I've been recording for 60 years. You mean to tell me you don't have one album?' I was embarrassed.
