Feeling Good is the lead song off Michael Buble's Grammy nominated album It's Time, which has sold four million copies worldwide.
And that sentiment pretty much sums up the 30-year-old Vancouver crooner's state of mind as he competes for his first Grammy Award tonight at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. (CBS/Global, 8 p.m.)
"I thought, 'Oh my God, this is amazing,'" says Buble of when his tour manager told him about his Grammy nominations while in Spain last December.
Buble is up for best traditional pop vocal album, but he faces some stiff competition from veterans Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Carly Simon and Rod Stewart.
"I hope it's not too cliche, but when you're up against your idols -- when you're up against Tony Bennett and Johnny Mathis -- really, it's a huge honour to be nominated along with those names," he says.
"And if I don't win, they can never take it away from me that I was a Grammy nominated artist -- and if I do, it's beautiful."
Shortly after being interviewed by the Sun, Buble was about to record a duet in L.A. with Bennett for Bennett's next studio album.
"I'm thrilled about it -- he's my idol. He's the guy," Buble says. "It was really cool, 'cause he sent me a demo of the song, which is Just In Time, and so I'm sitting there in my apartment listening to this demo and I stick it in and it's him going, 'Hey, Michael, it's Tony. Hey, Buble, I've been to a bunch of your shows and I know you've been influenced a little bit by Sinatra, and you do a little Darin, you even do a little Tony Bennett,' and he said on this recording, 'Could you just leave the Tony Bennett for me?' And then he giggled and that was it."
In addition to being a Grammy nominee, Buble will present best pop album tonight with sexy Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher. He'll perform Feeling Good during the pre-telecast.
And, yes, the solo singer -- who is no longer engaged to his longtime girlfriend -- likes older women.
"Especially desperate older women," he says, joking.
Buble will be going stag to tonight's Grammys.
"Just 'cause it's going to be a big night and I'm just going to concentrate on not passing out. You know, it's nerve-wracking. I think I'm going to go and do my best to look like I'm actually cool with everything."
Buble has a hectic schedule coming up. Following the Grammys, he's got a four-night stand at the Hilton in Las Vegas -- including Valentine's Day -- and has released a special Valentine's Day CD called With Love that's available through Hallmark.
"Really, it's only sold for a month. What I heard was they said it was, so far, their best-selling CD that they've ever had. So, I mean this is amazing. This is an amazing time for me. It really is. I can feel everything kind of coming together. To be No. 16 on the Canadian charts after 52 weeks and the American charts I think I'm still Top 50 or close to, so it's unbelievable."
Buble will sing on Dancing With The Stars on Feb. 17.
"I've not seen it in America but for a couple of years I've been doing a show called Strictly Come Dancing (in England) ... It was funny -- I got a call from a few friends of mine who are big artists, they said, 'What are you doing? This is cheesy.' And I said, 'Listen, you're not from here. And it's not cheesy here. It's a big show here.' And, of course, what happens, is a couple of years later, now it's a huge show in America."
Buble also has a slew of soldout dates on his U.S. tour in March and April , then will head straight back into the studio to record his next album.
"I found out yesterday that Radio City Music Hall, which is, I think, six or seven thousand seats, sold out in a little less than 20 minutes, so it's pretty fantastic. I've never played there before. It's cool to be able to go there and to sell out like that."
If that's not enough on his plate, Buble will perform on the Juno Awards telecast in Halifax on April 2.
Does that bode well for his Juno noms tally, to be announced in Toronto on Feb. 15?
"I hope so," he says.
