By Divine Right has signed to Nettwerk Records, the same label which represents Sarah McLachlan in Canada. It happened relatively fast considering how long the rock trio was kicking around Toronto largely ignored.

The band, which was signed to Kinetic years ago, released its latest album on another Toronto indie label, Squirtgun, before a NXNE showcase this summer turned some heads in the industry.

Lee Maslin, who runs Squirtgun, had already sent an advance cassette of the album, All Hail Discordia, to Nettwerk in Vancouver and talks were underway.

"I just thought it was such a wonderful record," says Mark Jowett, co-founder of Nettwerk and VP of A&R. "I thought the songs were strong and lyrically it was strong and I really like the vibe of it And other people around Nettwerk reacted the same way, so we talked to the band via their management about picking it up."

Nettwerk signed By Divine Right to a multi-album deal; however All Hail Discordia has been licensed from Squirtgun and will be rereleased mid to late November. "There are probably going to be some remixes for singles and the album's been remastered. It sounds great,' says Jowett.

"All the songs are so strong, but at the same time they're kind of unusual. They don't have three choruses. There's usually one chorus, a verse, and a really great break, but there's just some thing really memorable about every song. We're just hoping to give it a lot more exposure."

The band is currently in the midst of a cross-Canada tour with Change of Heart.
