Cardigans frontwoman Nina Persson is nobody's Lovefool these days.
As a result, anyone who hasn't been paying attention lately and thinks they're in for another dose of the band's saccharine Swedish bubble-pop is bound to be disappointed by their tellingly titled sixth album Super Extra Gravity.
On the other hand, those familiar with 2004's equally mature Long Gone Before Daylight will find much to enjoy in the impeccable craftsmanship and bittersweet reflection on display in richly melodic, slightly rootsy pop laments like Losing a Friend, Little Black Cloud and the magnificently titled I Need Some Fine Wine and You, You Need to be Nicer.
"True love is cruel love," Persson notes on the bruised ballad And Then You Kissed Me II.
Only a fool would doubt her.
