Cohen, Del Rey debut on charts
By , QMI Agency

Lana Del Rey and Leonard Cohen.

Some old ideas turned into a new No. 1 album on the charts - and it was from a Canadian legend, no less.

Leonard Cohen's first new disc in eight years, "Old Ideas," ousted Adele from the top position, selling 38,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan numbers.

Adele's "21" (13,000) was forced down to No. 2 after five consecutive weeks at No. 1. It wasn't all bad news for the Grammy-nominated superstar - the week's total put her over the one-million mark in Canada.

Another girl that's been in the news a lot lately, Lana Del Rey, debuted at No. 3 with "Born To Die," which rang up 11,000. She has been taking heat of late after being critically panned for her performance on "Saturday Night Live" last month.

The "2012 Grammy Nominees" compilation sank one to No. 4 (the Grammys go this Sunday), Gotye's "Making Mirrors" ballooned up two to No. 5, Hedley's "Storms" re-entered the top 10 at No. 6, and LMFAO's "Sorry For Party Rocking" moved from No. 9 to No. 7.

The Bob Dylan tribute "Chimes of Freedom" came down four to No. 8 in its second week of release, the Black Keys occupied the No. 9 slot, and " and the "MuchDance" collection hung on at No. 10.

In the U.S., Adele was firmly planted in first again, followed by Lana Del Rey in second, 78-year-old Cohen in third, "2012 Grammy Nominees" in fourth, and "Kidz Bop 21" in fifth.
