EDMONTON -- If news that James Cotton is coming to play the sixth annual Edmonton's Labatt Blues Festival causes you to exclaim, "James Cotton?! I thought he was dead," know this: Not only is James Cotton not dead, he's only 68 years old.
Being A, presumed dead or B, considered young at 68 are occupational hazards of blues legends - through no fault of their own, of course. Festival producer Cam Hayden agrees there's a significant age gap between the typical black blues legend and the typical white blues whiz - both of which will be well represented at the festival in Hawrelak Park Aug. 20-22.
