While on tour 12 years ago in Sweden, the wheels fell off the Camper Van Beethoven bus and the talented alternative band from Santa Cruz, California broke up in a hail of what frontman Dave Lowery describes as "doors slamming."
The timing of the implosion was curious, as the band had just released its second album - "Key Lime Pie" - on music giant EMI's sister label Virgin and was beginning to enjoy some widespread success in North America.

Cracker unveils spring tour dates
Cult rockers Cracker have lined up an extensive world tour in support of their new album, with two Canadian dates pencilled in.
The band, which rose out of the ashes of Camper Van Beethoven, will play Lee's Palace in Toronto on March 12 and Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom on May 3, according to the group's official e-mail list, crackersoul.com.
