"I Don't Care That You Don't Mind" is due from the group's own Cha-Ching Records on April 3. It will be preceded by the first single and video, "Every Morning."
The project's curious genesis dates back to September, when lead Dummy Brad Roberts was injured in a car crash near Argyle, Nova Scotia.
While undergoing physiotherapy on the East Coast, waiting for his arm to heal, Roberts began jamming with (according the press release) "local lobster fishermen".
The jam sessions evolved into studio work, which quickly began to take shape as a Roberts solo album. Dummies' keyboardist Ellen Reid contributed backup vocals and bassist Dan Roberts joined in as well.
The new album is described as similar to their debut album "The Ghosts That Haunt Me," but more polished, according to the band's website. The group plans to tour, and Roberts says the show will draw from all four of their albums, plus a few select covers. Benjamin Darvill won't be participating in the tour, due to the recent birth of his daughter, the website says.
An EP of Dummies' keyboardist Ellen Reid's songs will be for sale during the tour, as well as Roberts' recent double-live album and concert video. (More on Crash Test Dummies)
