A turn to a more acoustic-based sound didn't stop Sheryl Crow's new album from making a lot of noise on the Canadian and U.S. album charts this week.
"C'mon, C'mon" came in at the No. 2 spot on SoundScan Canada's album chart, selling 15,200 copies across the country. The album hit the same position on the U.S. charts, selling 184,700 copies.
This is Crow's first album since the platinum-selling "Globe Sessions" four years ago.
Elsewhere in the top 10, Celine Dion's "A New Day Has Come" kept a firm grip at the top of the chart, selling another 31,000 copies in Canada. In the U.S., the album slipped to No. 3 with just over 163,000 copies sold.
Juno award performers saw a slight climb in the number of albums sold this week, including Diana Krall's "Look of Love" (14,700) which climbed into the No. 3 spot, while Shakira's "Laundry Service" (10,700) slid to No. 4.
Nickelback's "Silver Side Up" (9,900) moved from seventh to fifth, while Ashanti's self-titled debut album (5,800) swapped positions, falling from fifth to seventh.
Enrique Iglesias's "Escape" (5,200) remained in ninth spot, while last week's second-place holder, Eric Lapointe's "Adrenaline", (9,200) fell to No. 6.
Rounding out the top 10 in Canada was Kyle Minogue's rebounding "Fever", with 5,100 copies sold.
In JAM!'s chart battle this week, only 25% of readers predicted that "C'mon, C'mon" would chart higher than "Heart To Yours", the solo album by Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child. "Heart To Yours" didn't appear on the chart this week.
