THE STABILITY
By KIERAN GRANT

THE STABILITY
Death Cab For Cutie
(Barsuk)

Slow and to the point. That's the passive-aggressive plan of attack on this three-song EP from Bellingham, Washington's acclaimed Death Cab For Cutie. As usual, the slowcore crew conjures up maximum tunefulness with a minimum of actual notes. For all the spareness, there's a deceptively complex beauty, particularly on the crawling, delicate dirge Stability. But the real stand-out here is their inspired -- and, with a drum beat that sounds like a basement punk answer to drum 'n' bass, almost-swinging -- cover of Bjork's All Is Full Of Love.

Death Cab For Cutie play the Reverb Tuesday with The Dismemberment Plan.
