Diplo is back. And there will be pizza.
Dancing pizza.
"We're calling it the Dancing Pizza Tour," the Philadelphia-based DJ and producer responsible for introducing the world to everything from M.I.A. and Kid Sister to the best of Brazilian baile funk enthuses. "It's all about bringing people something new."
That means not only larger-than-life food out on the floor, but also Diplo (aka Wesley Pentz) himself wandering into the crowd to give the night "more of a live feel ... like a rock tour." Throw in a bill chosen to represent the influential DJ's Mad Decent radio show and there will be something new for all in attendance.
"It's all part of trying to take over the world," Diplo jokes. From international sensation M.I.A. to countless mixes and remixes of material that has shone a light on dance-music from Brazil to Angola, Diplo has arguably been doing just that in recent years.
All part of the job, he says with a shrug.
"I'm supposed to be playing new music, seeking out new music," he explains. "I'm also supposed to be taking chances. That is my job. And it does involve a lot of work. But it's a better job than picking up garbage. I can't complain."
