Dr. Dre gets reported $15 million settlement
By JAM! Music
Hip-hop auteur Dr. Dre has settled his fraud and breach of contract suit with the accounting firm for an estimated $15 million. Dre, born Andre Young, had alleged in his suit that PricewaterhouseCoopers had removed tens of millions of dollars from his accounts during the rapper-producer's years as co-owner of the notorious gangsta-rap label Death Row Records. The Hollywood Reporter said the case was slowed because accountant Steven Cantrock, Death Row boss Suge Knight, and attorney David Kenner had all taken the Fifth Amendment, refusing to testify on the grounds that it might incriminate them. After three years before the courts, the suit was finally settled to "the mutual satisfaction of both parties," Dr. Dre's attorney Howard King told The Hollywood Reporter. (More on Dr. Dre) |
