Artist: Dr . Dre

Dr. Dre has eye on films

Dr. Dre is shifting gears from producing records to producing films.

Variety.com reports that the hip-hop artist has signed a deal with New Line films. Dre has expressed interest in producing dark comedies and horror flicks, but will also be involved in the music side of things.

"This is a natural switch for me, since I've directed a lot of music videos," Dre said in the article. "And I eventually want to get into directing."

As a music producer, Dre has won four Grammy Awards and sold more than 80 million albums worldwide. He has worked with such artists as Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Eve and the Game.

He was one of the founders of the rap group N.W.A. and is the CEO of Aftermath Records.
