Eminem appearance in Toronto up in air
By JANE STEVENSON
Promoters say they likely won't know until the day before or even the day of the show. "We don't know if he's going to be coming," said spokesperson Nicole Sullivan yesterday. "He's picking the dates on the tour that he wants to come to." D12, made up of six members -- including Eminem -- with alter-egos making them the Dirty Dozen, have chosen Toronto's first New Muzik Festival on July 1 at the Guvernment to launch their first full-length album, Devil's Night, which will be in stores June 19. Tickets for the multi-act festival are $30 in advance. Eminem most recently played in Toronto at SkyDome last October. The appearance stirred up controversy when an anti-violence advocate wrote the Toronto police's hate-crimes unit with concerns about Eminem's anti-women lyrics. The concert was protested all the way up to the office of the Ontario Attorney General, who unsuccessfully tried to get Immigration Officials to shut the Canadian border to the rapper. |
