Sugar Jones chart debut bedeviled by D12
By JOHN WILLIAMS
For the second week in a row D12, lead by infamous rapper Eminem, are at the top of the Canadian charts after selling 34,958 copies of their debut album "Devil's Night". The D12 sales mark a significant drop from last week, where they sold 64,100 copies. Despite the drop, D12 managed to easily hold off the much-hyped debut effort of "Popstars" winners Sugar Jones who broke into the charts at No. 2, selling 19,308 copies. Other albums to go straight into the top ten were "Planet Pop 3", which debuted at No. 5 on sales of 13,317, and the relatively weak debut of Canadian superstar Sarah McLachlan and her "Remixed" album, which managed only 7,405 in sales this week. Other notables on the chart were Stone Temple Pilots' "Shagri-La Dee Da" which took a large second week slide, sinking from the No. 5 slot to No. 13; Radiohead's "Amnesiac" which dropped from No. 8 to No. 16 and Big Sugar "Brothers And Sisters, Are You Ready?" which took a second week tumble from No. 12 to No. 34. Back near the top of the chart, Destiny's Child's album "Survivor" continued to do just that by staying at No. 3 with 16,320 copies sold; Blink 182's "Take Off Your Pants And Jacket" drops from No. 2 to No. 4 with 14,743 in sales and the soundtrack to the Nicole Kidman film "Moulin Rouge" drops from No. 4 down to No. 6 with 11,968 in sales.
