Eminem album rush-released due to bootleggers
By JAM! Music

The curtain will rise a little earlier than expected on "The Eminem Show."

Universal Music Canada confirmed that the rapper's new album is being released a week earlier than planned, on May 28.

Reuters reports that the decision to fast-track the album from its original June 4 date came after copies of the album surfaced online. In addition, the first pressing of the rush-released album will come with a bonus DVD, in an attempt to convince fans who may have downloaded the album to also buy a legitimate copy.

"We're disappointed that inferior pirated copies of 'The Eminem Show' are in circulation, which is why we've decided to make the legitimate version available sooner than originally planned," Universal's U.S. head of marketing, Max Hole, told Reuters.

The leaking of unreleased, high-profile albums has become a plague for the record industry in recent years.
