54-40’s Neil Osborne probably won’t have cameras following him everywhere he and his family go as those other Osbournes — Ozzy, Sharon and their misfit children once did — but his two daughters are following in their father’s footsteps and entering the music business.
Coral and Kandle Osborne are part of a Vancouver pop rock band called Heathers and are currently getting their debut record, entitled Small Glories, mastered.
The father says that when it came time to get the young women to contribute to 54-40’s Northern Soul, there was little in the way of arm-twisting.
“Oh, no,” Osborne says. “If it was up to them they would’ve done more. ‘How come I can’t sing more?’”
Osborne says the group’s latest video, Snap, was the 28th for 54-40. But listening to the singer’s response, one gets the sense making a video isn’t an obsession with him.
“I don’t mind it,” he says. “Obviously if you get a get a crew of 20 to 30 people all focused at you and pointing a camera at you, it does kind of ignite your ego a little bit. But (with the) 28th video done, I’m not too excited.”
