Album Review: Feist

OPEN SEASON
Feist tides fans over with 'Open Season'
By -- Winnipeg Sun

Feist
Open Season
(Arts & Crafts/EMI)

Leslie Feist is reportedly back in Paris, writing songs for the long-awaited followup to her 2003 breakthrough Let it Die. But even if she writes like the wind, fans will still be waiting a while for new sounds.

Luckily, they can tide themselves over (and she can buy some time) with the stopgap CD Open Season, a collection of "remixes, interpretations, collaborations and other songs."

To be more specific, that means: Four different mixes of Mushaboom (best of the lot: k-os's scratchadelic take), two versions of Gatekeeper, deconstructed versions of a couple of cuts, a tune recorded by Jane Birkin, a Peaches number and a bunch of unremarkable remixes.

All of which is fine -- but for everyone's sake, we sure hope Leslie doesn't come down with writer's block.
