EGO TRIPPING AT THE GATES OF HELL
By DARRYL STERDAN
EGO TRIPPING AT THE GATES OF HELL The Flaming Lips (Warner) It's easy to see why folks love The Flaming Lips. First off, they make gorgeous albums of soaring, sweeping psychedelic pop. Second, they go on tour in bunny suits. And third, unlike so many artists, they don't vanish between albums -- they keep in touch with EPs like last spring's Fight Test and this seven-tune collection. Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell is a typically charming offering with remixes of Do You Realize? and the titular album track, along with a trio of typically idiosyncratic and spaced-out new tracks and even an uplifting little holiday number called A Change at Christmas. If this kind of behaviour is an ego trip, here's hoping they never get their comeuppance. Track Listing
