Ottawa's Sue Foley soon will be hooking up with a bona fide blues king.
The blues/roots guitarist finally gets a chance to meet the legendary B.B. King when she performs the opening set for King's concert at Toronto's Massey Hall Jan. 22.
This past September, Foley, 32, performed at King's new club in New York on his birthday. Unfortunately, the blues icon was across town on Long Island, headlining his own blues summit tour.
King's supporting Riding with the King, a collaborative effort with Eric Clapton, while Foley's plugging her stellar sixth release, Love Comin' Down.
And that's only the beginning.
Following the King show, Foley will embark on a whirlwind tour -- including six dates in this region -- until the end of May. Most will be headliners, but Foley will also be opening for the likes of Jonny Lang, the Neville Brothers, Chris Smither and Jennifer Warnes.
She's also up for five Maple Blues Awards, which will be handed out in Toronto Feb. 6.
