Call it Invasion of the Foo Fighters, Part Three.
Seattle's Foo Fighters - fronted by Dave Grohl and named after a World War II term for UFOs - touched down in Toronto for the third time in a year on Wednesday night at the recently re-opened Concert Hall.
And with the possible exception of one bouncer in the balcony who was unable to prevent an enthusiastic fan from diving off the railing into the moshing crowd below, it's safe to say no one left disappointed.
The key to the Foo's loud, fun, sweaty rock 'n' roll show being lead singer-guitarist Grohl himself. Once positioned behind the drum it for Nirvanna, he's now a jumping, screaming, thrashing guitar presence with loads of confidence on stage and one-liners at his disposal.
But no matter how smart-alecky he got, Grohl never alienated the audience. Maybe because he seemed to genuinely care.
"Make sure you guys take care of each other and nobody gets hurt out there," said Grohl after the aforementioned balcony dive.
Meanwhile, flamboyant guitarist Pat Smear, rocking back and forth on the spot, and a pounding rhythm section - William Goldsmith on drums and Nate Mendel on bass - didn't hurt either.
Following sets by That Dog and Kim Deal's The Amps, the Foos played most of the material off the band's million selling, self-titled debut, including This Is A Call, For All The Cows, Good Grief, Exhausted, I'll Stick Around and Big Me.
The latter song prompted a show of Mentos among the 1,500 audience members in response to the Big Me video, which features the band parodying the goofy mint commercials. But unlike previous shows, there was no actual mint throwing until the very end of the song.
"Here's the deal," deadpanned Grohl afterwards. "Every night we get hit with so many f--cking Mentos, I have bruises. You don't know how it feels to be me, in the words of the great Tom Petty."
Obviously comfortable in Toronto, the Foos also tried out some new songs, including Chicken Derby (played live for the first time) and Down In The Park (a Gary Numan cover featured on the recently released X-Files soundtrack album).
The one somber moment came when the lights dimmed and Grohl - solely lit by a brilliant pink light - sang the B-side How I Miss You, which seemed particularly poignant given the approaching second anniversary of the suicide of his Nirvana bandmate Kurt Cobain.
But never one to be a downer, Grohl immediately came out of the song yelling: "Let's party!" and ripped into Alone + Easy Target.
To quote the front of the chanting mosh pit: "Foo! Foo! Foo!"
