Franz Ferdinand, Joss Stone and The Streets are among the nominees vying for this year's Mercury Prize, the BBC reports.
Other nominees for the British music award, styled after literature's Pulitzer Prize, include Basement Jaxx, Snow Patrol, Belle & Sebastian, Ty, Amy Winehouse, Jamelia, Keane, The Zutons and Robert Wyatt.
The prize honours the best album by a U.K. or Irish artist over the last year.
The winner will be announced on September 7.
U.K. hip-hop artist Dizzee Rascal took home the award last year for his debut album "Boy In Da Corner," making him the first rapper in the Mercury's 12-year history to win the prestigious prize.
